Q

Quencher:

The molecule that absorbs the emission of fluorescent reporter when in close vicinity. Most commonly used quenchers include TAMRA, DABCYL and BHQ. The quenchers are usually at the 3’ end of a dual-labeled fluorescent probe. Quencher dye is also called acceptor.

Quaternary Structure:

Structure of a protein which refers to its multimeric constitution.

Quick Stop:

DNA mutants of E.coli which cease to replicate immidiately when the temperature is increased to 42degreesC.
