V
V-Gene:
It is the sequence coding for the major part of the variable(N-Terminal) region of an immunoglobin chain.
Variegation:
This change in the phenotype is produced by the change in the genotype during somatic development.
Vector:
Vectors are vehicles for cloning DNA. A vector provides essential sequences for replicating DNA in a host and selection antibiotic markers. Non-essential sequences are deleted to allow room for the cloning of foreign DNA.
Vesicles:
These are the small bodies bounded by membrane, derived by budding from one membrane, often able to fuse with another membrane.
Virion:
It is the physical virus particle (irrespective of its ability to infect cells and reproduce).
Virulence:
Ability to infect or cause disease.
Virulent Phages:
Phage mutants that are unable to establish lysogeny.
VLSI:
Very large- scale integration allowing over 100,000 transistors on a chip. |
